Staining concrete is one of the most effective methods of transforming concrete slabs. Homeowners, designers, and builders are all drawn to stained concrete because of its beautiful look, achieved by combining various colors and application techniques on cement flooring and other substrates.

Once a stain reacts, it is a permanent part of the concrete and won’t fade, chip, or peel away. And acid-based concrete stains are translucent, so the colors and intensity of color they produce will vary depending on the color and condition of the underlying substrate. These variations bring unique character and distinction to each project we touch.

Acid stains have a limited array of subtle earth tones, such as tans, browns, terra cottas, and soft blue-greens. But newer products on the market, such as water-based penetrating stains and water- and solvent-based concrete dyes, greatly expand a designer’s palette with colors ranging from soft pastels to vivid reds, oranges, yellows, and purples.

And with so many decorative options available, combined with concrete’s inherent durability, we have seen many retailers choose decorative concrete for their flooring needs. It holds up to traffic, unlike traditional flooring that is high-maintenance and subject to moisture damage.
